Just how serious does the mob get? Well, based on a story in the New York Daily News, two crime families were about to go to war over a secret family recipe for pizza sauce. A Colombo crime family associate, Guerra, almost blew his stack when he learned that a Bonanno crime family associate, Lombardo, stole the recipe from L & B Spumoni Gardens Pizzeria, which has a long history in Brooklyn. Lombardo’s sons, who both previously worked for L&B, went on to open their own pizza place in Staten Island, “The Square,” with pizza tasting too much like L&B’s pizza. Guerra wasn't too happy about his family being robbed.
